ART AUCTION at Historic Nehrling Gardens
THEME “The Art of Nature”
Annual Nehrling Gardens Art & Wine Wander
We are seeking a curated selection of artwork that celebrates nature, animals, plein air, florals, and landscapes in all mediums. Both representational and abstract interpretations will be considered, including impressionist works, photography, and sculpture.
Let your art reflect the vibrant connection between creativity and conservation.
Artists are asked to submit only their strongest pieces in alignment with the theme.
ABOUT THE VENUE & EXHIBIT INFORMATION
Nehrling Gardens is a treasured nonprofit organization located in historic Gotha, near Windermere, Florida. Dedicated to the conservation of native plants, historic preservation, and the protection of natural spaces, it serves as both a sanctuary and an educational hub for the community.
Following major renovations, Nehrling Gardens is entering an exciting new chapter, making this year’s annual Art & Wine Wander especially meaningful. The event offers guests an opportunity to experience the renewed beauty of this historic property while celebrating the connection between art, nature, and conservation.
The event will welcome a limited number of ticketed guests, including high-level donors, art patrons, community supporters, and members of the general public.
Nehrling Gardens receives a 50% commission on all artwork sold, and artists retain 50% of the final sale proceeds.
For each submitted artwork, artists will be asked to provide:
True Market Value — the established retail value of the artwork.
Starting Bid Price — the minimum amount you are willing to accept as the starting auction price.
We recommend setting starting bids approximately 20–70% below the true market value to encourage bidding and generate interest in the auction.
Artists may also choose to donate an artwork, in which case 100% of the sale proceeds will benefit Nehrling Gardens and its conservation mission. There is no participation fee for artists donating their artwork.
There is NO FEE TO SUBMIT artwork for consideration. If your work is selected, there is a one-time $35 participation fee per artist, regardless of the number of pieces accepted.
Join us in using art as a way to give back and support one of Central Florida’s most beloved historic green spaces.
ARTIST ATTENDANCE & EVENT TICKETS
The Art & Wine Wander is a ticketed fundraising event, with only a few hundred tickets available for purchase. As ticket sales are an important part of the fundraising efforts supporting Nehrling Gardens, complimentary admission is not included for participating artists.
Artists who would like to attend the event are warmly encouraged to do so but will need to purchase an event ticket in advance, subject to availability.
The limited-ticket format creates a more intimate experience and provides an excellent opportunity for artwork to be viewed by donors, art patrons, community supporters, and guests of Nehrling Gardens.
PLEIN AIR PAINTING AT THE EVENT
A limited number of artists will have the special opportunity to paint en plein air on site at Nehrling Gardens during the Art & Wine Wander on October 3rd.
Selected artists should arrive between 2:30–3:30 PM to set up and will paint on site during the event from 4:00–7:00 PM.
These opportunities are very limited. If you would like to be considered as one of the artists painting on site, please select this option using the drop-down menu on the application form.
Artists selected to paint on site will not need to purchase a ticket to attend the event.
