Paint a Memory

Elder Care Art Therapy & Classes

The elderly within our community are often overlooked yet the stimulation provided by regular art classes cannot be overlooked. Art has been scientifically proved to provide stimulation to a range of fine motor and neurological functions as well as providing an outlet for creative thinking and expression. The more we engage in artistic activities the less our brain declines. Through specialized art classes, tailor made for those within over 55 communities, assisted living or memory care, our classes are developed to engage regardless of ability. We also have extensive experience working with people who may have limited mobility or those suffering from Dementia & Alzheimers. Classes are tailored made to suit a variety of abilities and needs. From fun wine & paint nights at your over 55 community clubhouse to specialized small group classes at memory care centers.

Since 2018 we have been structuring classes for the elderly and those afflicted by memory loss. Thanks to the generous funding provided by Healthy West Orange & the Winter Garden Art Association we have been able to host classes to those who would otherwise would not have been able to have access to these classes. We now offer private classes directly at assisted living and over 55 communities.

With grant funded subsidized classes starting from as little as just $100 per week (this includes professional tuition & supplies). Contact us today to discuss your individual needs.

We currently offer three categories of classes:

Memory Care classes specifically tailored towards people in memory care units at assisted living families or those being cared for at home.

Assisted Living classes tailored for active adults who require assistance in living their fullest life.

Over 55 Communities. These are tailored for the needs of active adults and can include paint & sip classes. Each class allows our community elders an opportunity to build painting and creative skills over time.

Each week we introduce new techniques and explore a wide range of materials and art techniques. We focus on building confidence, bring a sense of fun and laughter as we explore individual expression regardless of ability or disabilities.

We currently have a few 2023 slots available for subsidized Memory Care or Assisted Living classes in the West Orange area. Please contact us for more information about this grant funded program.
